What made you start writing an espionage technothriller series?

When I look for a read, I love espionage and techno-thrillers, but I don’t often find them in one book. Intel is selling Qubit chips and post-Cold War reality just …came in from the cold, again. I thought it would be fun to write a book and a series that I would love to read.

Where did you get the idea for your first book?

The books I love challenge the boundaries of the normal world. When I heard about the Boxing Day Tsunami, I felt the pain of the families of the victims. I also thought about the possibility that Mister Bin Laden might have been hiding in Indonesia. The tsunami as a weapon of mass destruction was born in my mind. In Tsunami Connection I wanted to explore how an ordinary woman and a spy would stop an existential threat to her country.

What type of reader would enjoy your brand of technothriller?

My writing tends to be plot-driven, but Dialog that drives the story forward and reveals people growing more real in every scene wrapped up in all-encompassing technology give me a buzz. I think I get that from my love of Matthew Mather. Readers who enjoy startling but believable technology humanized by the intervention of normal people will like Tsunami Connection. References to the Boxing Day Tsunami are made respectfully. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.

Tsunami Connection A HighOctane Technothriller The Kefira Mossad Series Book 1 eBook Michael James Gallagher

Tsunami Connection (the first in the New World Trilogy) is a fast-paced, intriguing spy thriller, with scenes set in the Middle east (such as the Sinai desert), North Korea and Russia. Written in snappy chapters, and alternating between fast paced action and a reflective tone that facilitates character development, the book is well balanced. It features Kefira (whose name in Hebrew means lioness): a fierce, courageous, and highly trained Mossad operative. You will be gripped by the dangers she faces on her mission and relieved by the narrow escapes.

The scenes are lovingly painted, with a light touch that leads you directly back into the action: “At midnight, an ocean breeze straggled across the rooftops to the crown of a luxury duplex on Melchette Street, Tel Aviv.” The flashbacks to Kefira’s past illuminate the traumatic events that shaped her past and forged her mettle. “Orphaned at a young age, Kefira involuntarily became an instrument, Mossad’s contrivance.”

Some of the reviewers commented on the ending being a cliff hanger, but I fully understand the need for it, as it is designated to be a jumping board to the next adventure in the series.

Five stars.

Tsunami Connection A HighOctane Technothriller The Kefira Mossad Series Book 1 eBook Michael James Gallagher Reviews

Tsunami Connection is a wonderful read about a young woman who has grown up in a world of espionage and intrigue. The main character is a woman named Kefira tells her story of her life and how she is thrust into a finding who killed her team and why. Without giving too much away I will just comment on Michael’s writing style. It is very good in that it keeps you riveted until the very end. There are two more in this series that I can’t wait to read! Thank you Michael for writing a wonderful book.
I bought this book, honestly, only as it was recommended to me. I don't read much in this genre and the cover wouldn't have normally caught my attention. However, it really just reinforced my belief that it's good to read "outside of your genre" and to not judge a book by it's cover (something I'm all too guilty of, all too often).

So here I found myself COMPLETELY swept away in this world of political intrigue, with a character who pretty much charmed me to death from the first instance--Kefira. Maybe I just have a soft spot for orphaned children in fiction (and in general) but Kefira, with her realistic flaws, just totally came alive on the page for me. She had one of the most interesting back stories and one of the most fascinating lives to follow. But even with all of her training, she's in over her head, and it's her quick thinking and intuition that really helps her get by in the end. And the stakes are high.

I have to say, I was really impressed with this story. To write such a complex plot as this, and so fluidly, is mind-blowing to me. This read like it should be a season of 24 or something! If you like fast-paced spy novels, this one will not disappoint. While I haven't read a lot in this genre, I HAVE seen many films, and this one seems to be on par with what audience fans would expect while not rehashing a tired-out overused concept.

Strongly recommended.
Tsunami Connection is my first foray into the political thriller genre in quite a while. After finishing it, I think I’ll be picking up a few more along those lines.

This book has many strong points working in its favor it’s imaginative and action-packed, and the plot has a number of twists and turns I never saw coming (This part is very important to me - if I see it coming I simply put down the book and leave it there).

The description of the many locations is also a major thumbs up. I unfortunately have never had the privilege of travelling to these places, but I suspect the author has. Moreover, he has skillfully captured the local scenery and customs of each of these and put them on paper. This is one repertoire I believe many authors lack.
For these reason I actually give it 4.5 stars!

Why don’t I give it five stars?

I have only one reason the dialogue between characters lags a little behind the book’s other strengths, and this is too important an issue to set aside. Dialogue matters! It gives insight into each character and is worth ten times its weight in narrative description in fleshing them out.

The important elements are there. There’s a story to be told, and an engaging one at that, and this is what matters the most. If the quality of dialogue can be polished up to the book’s remaining standards, it’ll deserve five stars.
This is my first read of Michael James Gallagher and although I'm not usually into anything super political, I was intrigued and attached to this novel from its first page. Unfortunately I had out of town guests, so I had to read it slower than usual.
Tsunami Connection offers various settings of the Middle East, Russia and North Korea, and shows readers the amount of research or first hand knowledge packed into the pages. I always enjoy being taken to places I might never travel, and must say I was entertainingly educated while reading this first of Gallagher's trilogy. This author's intellect shines through, and I'm happy I deviated from the norm and read his political thriller.

Tsunami Connection is well written with excellent flow and a realistic feel that kept the story fast-paced even though there were some interesting characters to attach to, or hate. Vivid scenes kept me engaged as I attempted to keep up with the espionage plot that men most likely easily followed. Or women who love political thrillers about terrorists, weapons of mass destruction, etc.

Again, I felt like I was sitting in a front row seat and travelling alongside main characters, Kefira and Zak as they delved into a world filled with clandestine missions, tension, romance, and terrorism indicative of what is happening around us today.
I loved the titillating ending that left me Jonesin' for the next book!
